Grace Brethren Youth Sports (GBYS)
A Christian Sports Organization established in 1986 to provide coed Baseball and Soccer for kids 4-13. G.B.Y.S. Soccer and Baseball provides a reasonably priced, family friendly schedule with NO SUNDAY GAMEPLAY. Most of our games take place on Saturday Mornings with the later games being completed by 3pm. Some games may take place during the week after school.
All games and every practice take place at our home fields located at Grace Brethren Elementary School located at 1717 Arcane Street.
G.B.Y.S. is a non-profit organization and does not require mandatory fundraisers. All fundraising comes through parents like you who choose to participate in events such as our ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST. Other sponsorship opportunities comes from those of you who own local business and desire to sponsor the league with the purchase of an ADVERTISING BANNER or whom participate in our OPENING DAY CARNIVAL with a vendor booth. All fundraising proceeds are used to boost our program. Grace Brethren Youth Sports was created for the purpose of coaching young people in the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST while providing a venue of competitive sports. G.B.Y.S. endeavors to provide "faith based" competition by endorsing team prayer before each game and encouraging group and individual prayers after each practice. G.B.Y.S. is not intended to be a platform to force our Christian beliefs onto other people. Our philosophy is simple and rooted in our belief of demonstrating God's message of love to all people through the great American pastimes of Baseball and Soccer
Air Quality Guidelines
It is the coaches responsibility (which could be delegated to a team mom) to check the following web page two hours prior to practice:
http://www.airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.showlocal&CityID=238
If both readings are 100 or below, practice may take place.
If either map shows a level of 101 or more (unhealthy for some groups including small children), practice is cancelled.
Coaches should keep in mind:
Although the government air quality site shows good or moderate levels, the air quality at the fields may require reduced exertion.
Parents may pull players from practice for air quality concerns without penalty.
Practices with difficult air conditions should focus on skill work - scrimmages and other strenuous activity should be kept at a minimum and more breaks should be given
Game decisions will be made by the sport commissioner and division coordinators.
