Grace Brethren Elementary School is a private, non-profit, co-educational school, for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. It was founded by Grace Brethren Church in 1978, and operates as a ministry outreach of the church. Grace Brethren Schools is fully accredited by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Our educational philosophy is born out of the belief that God is the source of all truth and the creator of all things; Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, the Savior of mankind in whom is hidden “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3); and, man is a sinner who is by nature estranged from God and who therefore must be born again (John 3:7) and become a new person in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). The authority of the Word of God and its directive to parents is to bring up their children in the “discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Grace Brethren School (GBS) exists to assist parents and the church in fulfilling this God-given responsibility with the definitive action to inculcate a God-centered worldview in students that gives meaning and direction to the educative process.
Purpose and Program
The Grace Brethren Elementary School purpose is to seek and to honor Christ by making disciples and teaching them to love God and people. The ultimate objective is that God be glorified in the life of the student (Romans 11:36). Our comprehensive program seeks to instill a firm academic and spiritual foundation while offering a wide variety of both co and extracurricular activities. A core value of our program is the inclusion and integration of scriptural truth in every academic discipline and in every activity of school life. Our program seeks to show how God is revealed in His Word and in His creation. The Word of God is at the center of every class offered and the majority of our curriculum is Christian based, meeting national standards.
Attendance at Grace Brethren Elementary School is based on a number of factors. First, parents and their children should be in agreement with the school goals and philosophy. Second, students seeking enrollment should be at or above grade level as assessed by a standardized test results and grades. Students who test below grade level are considered for placement based on interviews and additional testing when needed. “All parents of entering Kindergarten students are required to attend an informational meeting regarding our k1/k2 program.”
Message from the Principal
I am excited and privileged to be the principal of Grace Brethren Elementary School. This is my 21st year serving Grace Brethren Schools; God has truly blessed me with a ministry I never imagined. My prayer is the faculty and staff of Grace Brethren Schools will continue to model Christ in all that we say and do. Grace Brethren Schools has been a steadfast presence in the community for 30 years. We provide students with an outstanding academic education which is based on biblical beliefs. Our curriculum is biblically based and is taught in a loving and structured environment. In addition to our core subjects, students participate in weekly co-curricular classes such as Computer Lab, Library, Physical Education, Music and Art. We also offer a variety of extra-curricular activities for our students which include Spanish, archery, band, choir, worship band, student council and team sports. Through-out the school year, our students participate in a number of competitions with other Christian schools in the area. These events include the Choral Festival, Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, Speech Meet and Science Fair.
