4th Grade Design a Parade Balloon STEM Challenge
Fourth grade students were given a STEM engineering design challenge in class this past Friday. They were asked to design a balloon that would float and be used in a parade around campus. Utilizing one helium filled balloon and limited materials to construct their design, fostering an out of the box thinking opportunity within the classroom. Students’ creativity shone through in their completed designs and the smiles on their faces showed the pride behind their balloon floats as they marched around campus on Friday.
Fourth grade fun with balloons complete with a parade around the campus.
Our high school robotics teams competed in a regional tournament this last weekend and both teams made the playoffs while team 986A was able to reach the quarterfinals and won the Judges Award.
Also on Saturday, our junior high teams competed in separate regional tournament. Team 6986C made the playoffs and team 6986E won the Judges Award at the event.
We are excited to have our robotics teams gearing up for action.
In June, the roster had 7 players and some questioned if there would be a football season for the Lancers this fall. Fast forward five months. . .
The Grace Brethren Lancers overcame a couple of early deficits to defeat the #1 ranked Thacher Toads 43-34 in the 8-man Division 1 semi-finals. In their typical fashion, Grace Brethren received significant contributions from the entire roster. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families who stayed faithful to the cause and are being rewarded for belief in the process.
On to the finals: The Lancers will face Cate HS on Friday, November 19th at 7:00 PM - the championship contest will be played at Carpinteria HS. Come up on Friday, bring your friends, and enjoy cheering Grace Brethren to another victory.
This is Grace Brethren's 3rd appearance in the 8-man championship (3 in 4 seasons since 1999). From 2002-20019 they appeared in eight (8) 11-man championship games (8 in 18 seasons). The Lancers were CIF champions in 1999, 2004, 2017, and 2018.
