Team 986A ranked 2nd in Robot Skills Challenge and has been invited to attend the 2019 VEX CA State Championship on March 2, 2019, at Damien High School in La Verne CA.

The Robot Skills Challenge has teams compete in sixty (60) second long matches in an effort to score as many points as possible. These matches consist of Driver Skills Matches, which will be entirely driver controlled, and Programming Skills Matches, which will be autonomous with limited human interaction. Teams will be ranked based on their combined score in the two types of matches.

Team 986B was ranked 5th of 39 teams after competing in 7 matches consisting of 2 minutes each to manipulate and score 4 different scoring areas: caps, balls, flags and climb 2 level platforms within a 12'x12' game arena. They finished to the Quarterfinal rounds. Design Award is the requirement for consideration of winning Excellence Award: highest recognition in Qualifying rounds, Driving Skills and Programming Skills. The Team demonstrated an organized and professional approach to their design process, project/time management and team organization reflected in the documentation in their Engineering Notebook reviewed by the Tournament Judges, as well as, the detailed interview includes a presentation with follow up questions about their robot design from the Judges.
