Grace Football Leap-Frogs Over the Thacher Toads for a 50-36 Win
Saturday, October 15th was a sunny day in Ojai, California. The Grace Brethren Lancer Varsity Football team took the field against their host opponent, the Thacher Toads, in an epic face-off that would advance the winner towards playoffs. The game was well-coached on both sides, and the Lancers lead by 12 going into the half. With some key plays by quarterback Ethan Lasecla who finished the game with 146 yards passing, 93 yards rushing with 3 touchdowns/ throwing for 2 touchdowns, and had a pick 6 interception for a touchdown, the Lancers were well on their way to victory. Coach Coate and his staff protected their lead in the end by running the clock down and producing key running plays, that when the final whistle blew, the Lancers were victorious with a 50-36 win over their opponent. Senior Jacksen Mramor finished the game with 86 yards receiving, followed by senior Ryan Spelts who had 2 interceptions and successfully kicked 3 field goals to add to the victory. Senior Jacob Young lead the defense with 9 tackles and 2 QB sacks. The Lancers improve to 4-3 on the season as they prepare to take on the Trona Tornadoes October 21st for their last home game.
