You Can't Take It With You
One of the most popular production for high school theatre since it’s creation in the 1930’s, “You Can’t Take it With You” is the beloved and hilarious tale of the Vanderhof family - patriarch Grandpa; his daughter - unpublished but earnest playwright Penny; her husband, Paul who makes fireworks in the family basement; their daughter Essie, the world’s worst ballet dancer; her husband Ed, who loves the xylophone and printing press equally; and their daughter Alice - the only “normal” member of the family. Filled with even more wacky characters as the story progresses, Alice tries to introduce her fiance’s stuffy Upper-West Side parents to her own family with absolutely hilarious results. This show will have you rolling in the aisles by the time the lights come down. Grandpa’s final monologue, about the importance of human relationships versus the material nonsense that no one can take with them when they are gone, is one of the most beloved in theatrical history. Filled with laughs, thoughtful moments, and romance throughout, “You Can’t Take it With You” is sure to be a massive hit at Grace Brethren this fall. Be sure to grab tickets soon - you won’t want to miss this production!
