9/11 REMEMBRANCE

9/11 REMEMBRANCE

Jesus said in John 13:15, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, that you have love for one another.”  That love is not just a warm fuzzy feeling, but a decision to put someone else and their needs above your own.  It is sacrificial, giving and not always glamorous. That is why it is so special to set aside some time to remember what happened on 9/11 as well as recognize all of our families that have served and continue to serve our city, state and country. Although it was a little warm, it was still incredible to me to look out and see so many men and women who have answered the call to protect our communities.  It is still, and will forever be, one of my favorite days of the year.

I also want to say a special thank you to our guest speaker, Deputy Furukawa.  It was special to hear how 9/11 shaped and continues to shape his life and career.  We are deeply grateful for his service as a Sheriff’s deputy as well as serving at Grace. To engine 45 with the fire department, CHP, Simi PD, Ventura County Sheriff and our very own Search and Rescue vehicle, thank you for coming and sharing a part of your day with our school.  We recognize and appreciate your service and dedication.  We pray for you all regularly.  I also want to thank Mrs. Carter and the choir for their incredible singing and Faith Botica for so eloquently walking us through the events on that tragic day 21 years ago.  May God continue to bless our school and may God bless America.
