7/31/2020 - Principal Cooper Message

Dear Grace Elementary Families,

At Grace Brethren our commitment is to have our students return to campus for instruction as soon as possible.  We continue to pursue every avenue towards that end.  However, due to Ventura County denying our waiver request and the county remaining on the state COVID watchlist, we are planning to start the school year with remote learning on August 12th.  Our teachers, staff and campuses are prepared for both and we remain committed to educating students regardless of the modality we are forced to utilize.

As I stated above, Dr. Levin with Ventura County Public Health has denied our request for a waiver to re-open our doors.  We feel that the proposal we submitted demonstrated the science behind reopening schools as well as the support of our staff, parents and community.  Although disappointing, we will continue to persevere.  Our teachers are diligently preparing for “Meet the Teacher” day and the first day of school.  Their commitment to educating your student is unquestionable.  I have been blown away by the creativity, thoughtfulness, and devotion that our staff has put forward towards providing the best education possible through remote learning.

Please take a few moments to read the sections below as it pertains to the start of the school year.  Some of the information has changed and we want everyone to be prepared for the first day of school on August 12th.

In Christ,

Matt Cooper
